I was under the assumption they were both going to be main characters for this season. I mean, the episode was called "Liko and Roy Set Off" or something like that. Liko just seems like her story has been set up all ready as a novice pokemon trainer, who's going to go on adventure with this group, which I like. Roy feels like he's being shoehorned in right now, the character is super annoying, the VA is super annoying. Like you said, hopefully it gets better.

maybe the Liko and Roy set off is reffering to the pokemon Liko and Roy have pissed off even though that was mostly Hogator/Fuecoco's doing

This feels like a nitpick but unless certain Pokémon aren't meant for battle, I want them fully evolved at their upmost potential. Heck, introduce Eviolite in the anime.

Or they could just choose to not evolve, like Ash's Bulbasaur not wanting to evolve into an Ivysaur for example

They can show the evolutions through Pokemon Trainers that have them, like how Ash kept his Pikachu as a Pikachu and has seen Raichu used by other trainers or how Goh has a Grookey and has seen Grookey's evolution and final evolution

well at least its kind of confirmed that the red gator will evolve cause that boy said he wanted it to be as cool as charizard. in order for that to be so it has to evolve. also we all know that charizard was Ash's ace. who will be for this girl's team if not the green cat? forgot its name and her name already lol

who was the one who fought Gary's ace blastoise? or that one guy's blaziken? who did ash try to use as a trump card against richie? against Iris's dragonite? i rest my case.

Ok, but most of the time Ash's ace was Pikachu. Sometimes it was Charizard, other times it was his Sceptile, Greninja, Gengar, Lucario and Goodra.

he didnt use him against his rival's ace so he cant be. though hes definitely is a highly top member of his party. close second.

Ash has had more than one rival (Paul is my favorite of Ash's rivals, he almost always beat Ash whenever they battled)

I'm sure we will see them evolve. I mean Liko just got her grasscat, it'd be a short anime if it evolved immediately.
